| Astrology is one of 13 Vedic / Sanskrit Disciplines those are taught at the universities in India. There are more than 5000 schools, colleges and more than 7 universities which conduct astrology post-graduation education in 9 year regular terms. After doing this, you become Jyotish
Acharya or MA - Vedic Astrology. Despite of this wide-spread and very traditional
education in India
hardly 2 of 100 astrologers have this education of astrology. Mostly people have learnt themselves by 1-2 books but they do not have qualifications for practicing astrology.
Ridiculously, some reputed organizations like Bhartiya Vidya Bhawan or ICAS offer title of Jyotish Acharya besides their honorary titles like Jyotish Visharad, Alankar, Teerth etc. These are fun-courses offered in the weekends and are not an education. People who do not know Sanskrit prefer to learn Astrology through
English and
they approach
these organizations. Anyway neither the teachers nor the pupils are having formal educations of Astrology from a university nor they have any command on Ancient Vedic Astrology Textbooks.
